The Heavy Water Basement is open for guided.  Tickets are sold on nia.no/billetter.  Each guided tour is limited to 11 visitors, honouring the 11 saboteurs who carried out the sabotage.

The Spark

The exhibition in Notodden tells the story of Norway's most important invention: the arc furnace and the production of mineral fertilizer. The so called "Norgessalpeter" laid the foundation for the establishment of Norsk Hydro in 1905. The invention led to a better food situation throughout the world.

The heavy water saboteurs

The exhibition is about the 11 saboteurs who took part in the spectacular Operation Gunnerside, the heavy water operation against Vemork, on the night of 28 February 1943. You will also find out what role and military degree they had, and what they did after the operation.
