"Borgny Svalastog - All flesh is like grass" The retrospective exhibition shows selected works by norwegian artist Borgny Svalastog in textiles, graphics and installation.
The retrospective exhibition in Hall 1 shows selected works by Borgny Svalastog in textiles, graphics and installation. From her debut exhibition in 1984 until today. Svalastog is one of our foremost female artists and an innovator of church and textile art. The exhibition is curated by Per Bjarne Boym and marks Svalastog’s long artistic career.
The title of the exhibition is taken from a Bible verse:
All people are like grass and all their splendor is like the flower of the grass. The grass withers and the flower falls off.

The main theme in the exhibition revolves around personal beliefs and transitions from this life to the next. In her art, Borgny addresses themes such as life after death, loss, grief and injustice.
About the artist
Borgny Farstad Svalastog (1943-) is a Norwegian visual artist, educated at Vestlandets Kunstakademi. She works in many different materials such as drawing, textiles, graphics, pastels, sculpture, installation. She is for many especially known for her textiles and embroidery, and has made a number of bishop’s robes and church textiles for more than 40 churches.
